A Little Biography
I am…Carol “Cookie” Labonte Holmes. I am a daughter, a sister, a niece, an aunt, a friend, a student, and an artist living in Eastern North Carolina, looking for inspiration every day.
I graduated from Lenoir Community College in Kinston, NC in 2006 with a degree, Associate in Arts in Art Education/Painting and Photography. Then I started working on my Bachelor’s degree at East Carolina University Fall of 2006, hoping one day to finish. As of now, I am more of a self-taught artist. Together with what I have already learned, I research other artists, mediums, techniques, philosophies, so I can become a better artist.
I work with graphite, pen & ink, acrylic, oils, mixed media, traditional photography, and digital photography. I shoot with a Canon EOS Rebel Ti, a Canon EOS 350D, for Ttv’s (Through-the-Viewfinder Photography) I use a vintage 1947 Kodak Duaflex camera, and I have just recently acquired a 1967 Polaroid Land 220. One day I plan to own a Holga CFN, a Lomo Diana, and a Blackbird Fly.
My goal is to learn and grow, make as much fine art as I can, and share it with the world!

Hello,
Thank you for the letter that you left yesterday at Carrabbas, my manager passed it around after you had left. I was the asian chef making pizzas and I just wanted to contact you and say thank you. Your words were very touching. I had noticed that you were writing something, thought maybe you were a writer, but didn’t want to pry into your business. I asked for him to make a copy of the letter for me so that I could contact you, I saw that you left a website, I hope that is okay. I don’t know what it is like to lose a soul mate, but I do know what it’s like to lose a loved one. Both of my parents have passed. I hope that you are doing well and stay blessed. Please stay in touch if you want and come visit us again!
Sincerely,
JoyLee Farrell Chase
Thank you, JoyLee…what a very nice surprise that you have taken the time to write on my blog. I am sorry to hear that you have lost both your parents. I will definitely be back to visit, and have lunch there. It was our favorite place to hang out, and dine, even though it’s about an hour and forty-five minute drive, it is well worth it. Everyone is so nice, and the food is delish. I am hanging in the best I can, and trying to take things one day at a time, I know that’s all we have. Thank you again, for making my dining experience a pleasure, and I’ll be returning soon!
Best Regards,
Cookie 🙂
Nice website Carol, and great shot of you.
Terrible website and okay blog, but hope to have a more professional looking website this year. Thanks for peeking at it.
🙂
Hi Cookie,
I’m a photography student living in Tasmania, Australia and came upon your work today whilst doing research on multiple image photographs. I’ve just been looking at your photos on the fine art America site and wanted to say how wonderful and inspiring they are. All the best for the future!
cheers, Marion
Hello Marion,
I apologize it took this long for me to respond to this message. I have not seen it until today. Thank you for your wonderful comment I appreciate it very much. It’s exciting to know a student from so far away is looking at my work. I completely forgot about my Fine Art America site since I have been extremely busy. I must go on on it and update it. Since you are a photography student, do you have a blog or website I can view your photography? If so, let me know, would love to look at a fellow photographers artwork.
All My Best,
Cookie
Thank you, Marion…I appreciate it. I am happy to know a student from another country is viewing my work. I would love to view any multiple images you are working on. Message me any time. Good luck on your endeavors!
Have a painting of yours titled”the curve”,and we love it
