Dog Days

by cholmesart

The term “dog days” is often used to refer to the hottest , most sultry days of summer. The expression dates back to the Greek and Roman times and refers to the Sirius, the dog star, which was at it’s brightest during the hottest months of the year. In the northern hemisphere, dog days usually fall between early July and early September. We have had some of the hottest summer days this year to record. I realized taking photographs can be challenging if taken outdoors. The early mornings here are still warm and humid, by evening it seems the heat is lingering as the sun is trying to set. I am looking forward to taking advantage of the cooler weather in NY. New places to see, new experiences, and new photographs to return with. 🙂
